Spanish La Liga
Result: Malaga 2-0 Barcelona
Date: 08 April 2017
Venue: La Rosaleda
FC Barcelona missed the chance to go top of La Liga table, after they suffered a shock a 2-0 defeat to Malaga at La Rosaleda.
The Catalan giants were without the services of Gerard Pique and Ivan Rakitic as both players were suspended.
Cameroon goalkeeper, Carlos Kameni came to Malaga's rescue after 17 minutes as he produced a superb save to keep out Luis Suarez's volley.
However, it was Malaga who broke the deadlock in the 31st minute as former Barca player, Sandro Ramirez broke the offside, raced through on goal and calmly slotted past Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.
Luis Enrique's charges were finding it tough to break down the Malaga defence as the first half went on.
That trend continued for the rest of the opening stanza, as Malaga went into the break leading by one goal.
Enrique opted for a double change at the start of the second half as Andres Iniesta and Sergi Roberto replaced Denis Suarez and Jeremy Mathieu.
The visitors carved out a chance in the 64th minute when Suarez did well to pick out Neymar, who headed over the crossbar with a big goal to aim for.
However, the second half did not go as Barca planned, as they were reduced to 10 men in the 66th minute when Neymar was sent off for picking up his second yellow card.
After a quiet spell in the final third, the visitors carved out a chance in the 88th minute when Javier Mashcerano played Suarez, however Kameni came off his line to deny the Uruguayan striker.
However, Malaga made the most of the numerical advantage as they doubled their lead in the 90th minute as Jony smashed home from close range, after being teed up by Charles, 2-0.
The loss sees Barcelona drop three points behind leaders Real Madrid, who have a game in hand.
