Barcelona moved to the top of La Liga standings after thrashing Rayo Vallecano 6-1 at the Camp Nou on Sunday afternoon.
The home side went ahead as early as the fifth minute, as Luis Suarez latched onto a pass from Xavi, before firing into the back of the net with a delightful finish.
Pedro should have increased Barcelona's advantage in the 20th minute, the forward was played through on goal but failed to beat Cristian Álvarez from close range.
Lionel Messi also squandered an opportunity to double the hosts' lead in the in the 33rd minute, as his attempted lob fell just wide of the upright, after getting on the end of a fine pass from Suarez.
Vallecano's best chance of the game came from a set-piece in the 32nd minute, as Roberto Trashorras' curling free-kick sailed inches wide of the upright.
Barcelona eventually doubled their lead shortly after the halftime break, Dani Alves' header crashed onto the upright but Gerard Pique was on hand to slot home the rebound.
Messi eventually got his name on the score-sheet in the 54th minute, as he converted a penalty, while Roberto Román Triguero was shown a second yellow card for committing the foul which led to the penalty.
The Argentine got his second goal in the 63rd minute, lashing home from three-yards out, after Suarez's effort had been saved.
Messi was not done there, as he showed great composure and skill to round Cristian Álvarez, before finishing into an empty net.
Vallecano did grab a consolation, with Alberto Bueno converting from the penalty spot, after the striker had been brought down by Alves, who was shown a straight red card.
Suarez rounded off the scoring in stoppage time, the Uruguayan collected a pass from Messi, before sliding the ball under Alvarez.
