Result: Barcelona 7-1 Osasuna
Date: 26 April 2017
Venue: Camp Nou
Lionel Messi continued his fine form with another brace of goals, as FC Barcelona thumped Osasuna 7-1 at the Camp Nou on Wednesday evening.
Luis Enrique was without the suspended Neymar, while Luis Suarez started on the bench.
After a quiet start, Barca broke the deadlock in the 12th minute as Messi scored with an impressive finish over Salvatore Sirigu from close range.
The home side carved out another opening after 26 minutes, but Messi blazed over the crossbar from close range.
However, Barca double their lead four minutes later as Gomes turned home Ivan Rakitic's cross with smashing finish from close range.
The visitors hardly threatened in the opening 45 minutes and went into the break trailing by two goals.
However, Osasuna pulled one back three minutes into the second half courtesy of a fine free-kick from Roberto Torres, who sit the ball into the top corner.
Barca then restored their two-goal advantage in the 57th minute as Gomes slotted home from close range after Pique's effort had crashed off the upright.
Messi then grabbed his second and the home side's fourth in the 61st minute with a powerful strike, following a fine run.
It was 5-1 three minutes later as Paco Alcacer lifted the ball over Sirigu, after some poor defending from the visitors.
Enrique's charges were then awarded a penalty in the 67th minute after Denis Suarez was brought down. Javier Mascherano slotted home the penalty for his first goal for the club.
The tempo of the game dropped heading into the final 15 minutes as Barca were quite content to just pass the ball round.
However, Alcacer rounded off the scoring in the 86th minute by rounding Sirigu and slotting into an empty for his second and Barcelona's seventh.
