Date:07 January 2018
Venue: Camp Nou
FC Barcelona registered their first victory in 2018 when they beat Levante 3-0 in a Spanish La Liga match at Camp Nou on Sunday.
Barcelona got off to a flying start with the opening goal in the 12th minute when Lionel Messi got onto the end of a pass from Jordi Alba and duly volleyed the ball into the corner of the net from just inside the box, 1-0.
Ousmane Dembele almost doubled the lead for the home team in the 25th minute when he created some space for himself on the edge of the box, but he saw his thunderous shot brilliantly saved by the Levante goalkeeper.
In the 38th minute Barcelona did find their second goal when Luis Suarez latched onto an inch-perfect cross from Sergi Roberto just outside the box and arrowed the ball into the top left corner, 2-0.
The home side took a comfortable 2-0 lead into the break.
Levante played much better in the second half and came close to pulling a goal back in the 65th minute when a pass into the box found Shaquell Moore unmarked, but his effort from close range was spectacularly saved by Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Luis Suarez should have put the result beyond doubt seven minutes later when he dribbled his way into the box, but was thwarted in a one-on-one with the Levante goalkeeper.
Victory was sealed for Barcelona in the third minute of injury time when Messi played Paulinho into space inside the box and he easily tapped into an empty net to make it 3-0.
