Spanish La Liga
Result: Atletico Madrid 0-0 Real Madrid
Date: 18 November 2017
Venue: Wanda Metropolitano
Real Madrid have fallen 10 points behind La Liga leaders FC Barcelona after they played to a 0-0 draw with cross-town rivals Atletico Madrid.
Atletico squandered a glorious chance to score after just three minutes when Angel Correa poked wide of the upright from six-yards out following an error from the Real defence.
There was a good tempo to the first half, although the game was repeatedly interrupted by needless fouls an small scuffles.
Los Blancos carved out their first chance after 30 minutes as Cristiano Ronaldo played in Toni Kroos, who could only fire into the side-netting from close range.
The rest of the first half struggled to produce any clear-cut openings as both sides struggled in the final third.
Nevertheless, the score remained goalless at the halftime break.
Real resumed the second half without Sergio Ramos, who took a knock to the face at the end of the first half. He was replaced by Nacho.
The second half continued in the same fashion as the first with both sides finding it tough to carve out chances.
After a quiet spell in the stanza, Zinedine Zidane introduced Marco Asensio for Karim Benzema in the 77th minute, while Fernando Torres and Kevin Gameiro came on for the host.
The change nearly paid off for Atletico a minute later when Gameiro looked to lob Kiko Casilla, but Raphael Varane cleared the striker's effort off the line.
Lucas Hernandez came to Atletico's rescue in the 88th minute as the defender produced a superb block to deny Ronaldo a clean strike at goal from close range.
However, neither side could break the deadlock in the closing stages as the spoils were shared on the night.
