Spanish La Liga
Result: Real Madrid 2-1 Celta Vigo
Date: 27 August 2016
Venue: Santiago Bernabeu
Goals from Alvaro Morata and Toni Kroos handed Real Madrid a 2-1 win over Celta Vigo at the Santiago Bernabeu.
As expected, Zinedine Zidane's charges dominated the possession statistics in the early exchanges, while Alvaro Morata had a couple openings at goal.
Real continued to search for an opening goal and were nearly rewarded after 28 minutes when Luka Modric rattled the crossbar with a strike from distance.
Celta, meanwhile, were quite content to sit back and soak up the pressure, with the hope of catching Los Blancos on the break.
Despite Real's domination in the first half, the score remained goalless, as the sides entered the halftime break.
Celta Vigo shot-stopper Alvarez continued to frustrate the home side, as he produced another fine save to keep out Bale's stinging effort after 55 minutes.
Los Blancos eventually broke the deadlock five minutes later when Alvaro Morata slammed home from close range, after Marco Asensio's initial effort had been denied.
Celta leveled matters in the 67th minute as John Guidetti teed up Fabian Orellana, who scored with a lovely finish over Kiko Casilla.
However, the home side restored their lead in the 81st minute courtesy of a wonderful strike from Toni Kroos, who slotted the ball home from 20-yards out.
