Spanish La Liga
Full Time: Real Madrid 2-0 Deportivo La Coruna
Date: 14 February 2014
Venue: Estadio Santiago Bernabéu
Goals in each half from Isco and Karim Benzema saw Real Madrid beat Deportivo La Coruna 2-0 in a Spanish La Liga match at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday night.
The win sees Madrid bounce back from 4-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid last weekend and up to 57 points at the top of the league table.
Deportivo started the better of the two teams and had the first decent effort on goal in the seventh minute when Isaac Cuenca curled a 20-yard effort narrowly wide the target.
A minute later Cristiano Ronaldo almost scored a magnificent goal as he attempted an acrobatic overhead kick which landed on the top of the net.
In the 12th minute Ronaldo was at it again when he used trickery to work the ball into a yard of space on his left on the edge of the box before smashing the ball against the crossbar.
In the 24th minute Madrid made their pressure pay off when Isco curled a shot into the top corner of the net from 18-yards out, 1-0.
Madrid continued to dominate the rest of the half but could not add to the scoreline before the break.
Deportivo started the second half positively and almost pulled level five minutes after the restart when Celso Borges struck the woodwork with a 16-yard half volley.
Madrid, though, took the game away from the visitors after that and doubled their lead in the 76th minute when Ronaldo put Benzema through on goal and he proceeded to chip the onrushing goalkeeper, 2-0.
Deportivo tried to get back into the game, but were unable to do so and suffered their 11th loss of the season.
