A brace from Cristiano Ronaldo and a solitary strike from Gareth Bale handed Real Madrid a 3-0 win over Getafe on Sunday afternoon.

Carlo Ancelotti's side got off to a sluggish start and rarely troubled the Getafe shot-stopper, Jordi Codina.

Isco came close to opening the scoring in the 37th minute, as his curling effort from distance was palmed away by Codina.

Toni Kroos went closer just before the halftime break but the German's powerful strike from the edge of the area crashed against the woodwork.

It was more of the same in the second half for Los Blancos, as they dominated possession but failed to create anything, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale left frustrated on the flanks.

However, Madrid eventually took the lead in the 63rd minute, as some good work by Karim Benzema teed up Ronaldo, who tapped into an empty net.

The lead was doubled minutes later, James Rodridguez picked out Bale with a delightful ball and the Welshman side-footed the ball into the far corner.

Ronaldo got his second and Madrid's third in the 78th minute with a fine header, after yet another wonderful cross from Rodriguez.

Getafe's first meaningful effort arrived in the 85th minute, as Álvaro Vazquez managed to hit the crossbar from point-blank range.

The only negative for Madrid, was Bale limping off in the closing stages of the game, after a receiving a knock on his foot.
