Goals from Mario Mandzukic and Raul Garcia handed Atletico Madrid a 2-0 win over Granada in a Spanish La Liga match at the Vicente Calderón on Sunday night.
The opening 45 minutes aw Atletico start a little slowly which allowed the away team to threatening in the early on.
First decent chance on goal came in the 15th minute when Youssef El-Arabi got in-between two Atletico defenders to a meet a cross, but his header went narrowly over the target from 12-yards out.
Three minutes later Atletico keeper, Moya, had to be alert as he palmed an in-swinging corner-kick onto the frame of his goal before clearing.
The home side finally created their first chance on goal in the 24th minute when Koke was played into space on the edge of the box, but he fluffed his shot wide.
Atletico were afforded the perfect opportunity to take in the lead in the 35th minute when Diego Gordin was hauled down inside the box by Abdulwahid Sissoko and the referee point to the penalty spot.
Mario Mandzukic stepped up and made no mistake from the spot to give Atletico the lead going into the break, 1-0.
The second half saw the home side control the possession stakes, but they struggled ot create many decent goal scoring chances.
Atletico’s first real chance of the second half came in the 69th minute when AntoineGriezmann saw a half volley from the edge of the box superbly saved by the keeper.
In the 83rd minute Mario Suarez came close to adding the home side’s second goal when he met a free-kick with a strong header, but his effort flashed just wide.
Raul Garcia made certain of all three points for Atletico in the 88th minute when he found the back of the net from close range, 2-0.
