Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos set a new La Liga record after he was sent off against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday evening.

The Spain international returned to the Los Blancos line up on Saturday evening as they drew 0-0 at San Mames.

However, Ramos' evening was cut short after he was shown a second yellow card and sent off for catching Aritz Aduriz in the face on 86 minutes.

The defender has now been sent off more times than any player in Spanish top flight history.

Los Blancos also missed the chance to close the gap on FC Barcelona, who drew 2-2 with Celta Vigo at the Camp Nou.
