Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has put pen to paper on new deal that will keep at Camp Nou until 2019.
The midfielder, a product of Barcelona’s youth academy, whose contract was only due to expire in 2018, has furthered his stay for another year, with the chance of an extra year’s extension after that and a reported buyout clause of €150 million.
“I'm happy for the confidence the club and staffs have in me. I hope to return it with my work and sacrifice,” he told the club's official website.
“I'm at the right place with the right people, to fight for all the titles.”
Busquets’ chance came for the Catalan after the departure of Yaya Toure, and has become a key player in Barcelona’s midfield.
The 26-year-old has played 314 times for the Spanish giants, scoring 12 goals and assisting 19 times for his teammates. Busquets has also picked up 73 yellow cards and two reds for Barcelona.
