Reports: Real Madrid Star Accused Of Racial Slur
A Real Madrid star has reportedly been accused of racially insulting Levante's Jefferson Lerma.
According to El Mundo Deportivo, Spain fullback Dani Carvajal was apparently seen on television cameras shouting a series of insults at the Colombian midfielder during a La Liga match two weeks ago.
It has been claimed that one of the words used was "monkey", and it is now believed that La Liga will open up an investigation into the incident, despite it not making it into the referee's match report at the time.
Lerma was later caught up in another incident during that match, this time with Brazil international Marcelo, who was shown a straight red after kicking out at his fellow South American.
The Spanish top flight is apparently also looking into two more games that possibly featured incidents of racial abuse – the match between FC Barcelona and Espanyol, and the fixture involving Leganes and Getafe.
Carvajal recently signed a new two-year deal with Los Blancos, tying him down to the Santiago Bernabeu until June 2022.
