Reports: FC Barcelona Tried, But Failed To Land Manchester United Target
A report has emerged claiming that FC Barcelona reportedly tried sign one of Manchester United’s transfer targets in the latest window.
The Blaugrana were under an enormous amount of pressure to make a big name signing after the departure of their Brazilian star Neymar to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.
According to Spanish Publication Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan club offered their La Liga opponent Atletico Madrid £123 million (R2.2 billion) for France international Antoine Griezmann.
The report claims that the 25-year-old was one of the three strikers Lionel Messi recommended to the FC Barcelona board to sign.
Griezmann was apparently close to joining the Red Devils but decided against the move after his Spanish side could not replace him due to their transfer ban, which was handed down by FIFA.
Both sides are apparently expected to bid for the striker in January, but Spanish media suggest that Old Trafford will be the only destination for the Frenchman.
Where do you think Griezmann should move too? Have your say in the comments section below.
