Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a striker valued at about €20 million (R321 million), which could please the fans who have become increasingly impatient with manager Arsene Wenger.
According to El Confidencial, the London club are close to signing Spanish forward Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna.
Ronald Koeman's Everton were reportedly favourites to sign the 27-year-old, who had a prolific goalscoring campaign in 2015/16, finding the net 17 times and assisting a further 10 strikes in 36 matches.
Gunners boss Wenger has been heavily criticised by fans for his cautious approach in this transfer window, while the club's rivals have all strengthened their squads with new additions.
Arsenal were linked with the likes of Jamie Vardy, Gonzalo Higuain, and Riyad Mahrez at the beginning of the window, but have reportedly missed out on many of their main targets.
Granit Xhaka is the only big signing made by Wenger so far in this window, but supporters feel the club needs another defender and another top striker to compete for the league title this season.
Fans of the club have even gone as far as holding up banners at the Emirates Stadium suggesting Arsenal should seek a new manager.
Despite Perez not signing for Arsenal as of yet, it is believed the deal is "almost certainly" set to take place.
