The Catalan giants have been linked with Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho, Arsenal's Mesut Ozil, Schalke's Leon Goretzka and Real Sociedad's Inigo Martinez in recent weeks, and the club's president has now spoken about the business Barca could do in the new year.
"We are happy with our squad, but we believe we can improve in January," Bartomeu said at an awards ceremony this week, as quoted by Football Espana.
"We think there will be opportunities to improve and strengthen in the winter market and as we are Barca, we always have to look for ways to improve.
"We want to win every trophy we are in – La Liga, Copa del Rey, the Champions League – and perhaps the squad needs a little more to achieve such a feat.
"I'm not the most important person in this regard, as we have (sports manager) Pep Segura, (sporting director) Robert Fernandez and Oscar Grau."
