Real Madrid defender Pepe has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo was never depressed during his so called goal “drought”.
The Portuguese superstar, who scored his first goal in a month when finding the net against Schalke on Wednesday, has struggled with form and fitness since winning his third Ballon d’Or crown in Zurich.
Pepe, who returned to the Real Madrid starting line-up in their Champions League first leg clash against the German side, denied all reports saying that Ronaldo was depressed or frustrated during his tough month.
"I've never seen Cristiano looking sad,” Pepe told Marca.
“When you score 60 goals a season and then go three or four weeks without scoring, it's normal for people to speculate that you're not right, but I just look at the work he's always done to help his teammates.”
The defender expressed his delight with the victory and explained the team’s celebration with coach Carlo Ancelotti.
"We're a family,” he added.
“The gaffer is like a father to us and that's why we went and celebrated with him. He's a coach who helps all of us, and we're very happy to have him."
Pepe has made 22 appearances for Los Blancos this season and has scored one goal, while assisting a further three.
