Amid reports that Javier Mascherano will leave the Spanish side for a lucrative offer in China this month, Barca have found a replacement in Yerry Mina.
The 23-year-old Colombia international was only supposed to join the Blaugrana after the current season, but the club has now opted to move the deal forward.
The LaLiga leaders confirmed the deal after agreeing a fee worth €11.8 million (R176 million) with Mina's club Palmeiras. He is the first Colombian ever to sign for Barca after putting pen to paper on a five and a half year deal until June 2023. His contract includes a €100 million (R1.5 billion) release clause.
Mina made his Colombia debut in June 2016, and since represented the South American country nine times, scoring three goals.
