Spanish La Liga
Result: Real Madrid 1-0 Granada
Date: 19 September 2015
Venue: Santiago Bernabeu
Karim Benzema scored the only goal of the game to hand Real Madrid a slender 1-0 win over Granada at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Isco had the home side's first chance in the 14th minute, as the Spaniard picked up the ball 30-yards out, before rifling his effort straight at Granada goalkeeper, Andres.
Andres came to Granada's rescue in the 20th minute, as the Malaga goalkeeper denied Cristiano Ronaldo in an one-on-one situation, while Benzema failed to slot home the rebound.
The visitors did have the ball in the back of the net moments later when El Arabi turned home Isaac Success' cross, but the midfielder was flagged for offside.
Los Blancos were left frustrated once again in the 30th minute when Modric latched onto Ronaldo's pass, before seeing his palmed away by Andres.
Isco should have given Real the lead just before the halftime break, the Spaniard was in acres of space in the box but ended up blasting well wide, despite having the goal at his mercy.
The visitors came close to breaking the deadlock shortly after the break Success was played through on goal, however the Nigerian placed his effort over the crossbar from close range.
Rafael Benitez's side then went ahead in the 55th minute when Isco picked out Benzema in the six-yard area and the Frenchman made no mistake with the header.
Navas had to be at his best after 60 minutes, as he thwarted El Arabi with a good black from point-blank range, after the Granada forward skipped past two Real defenders.
Real were looking to kill off the encounter as the half went on and substitute Denis Cherysev fired a volley agonisingly wide of the upright in the 83rd minute.
The hosts managed to see out the rest of the half with relative ease to clinch the three points, while they are yet to concede a goal this season.
