Five-Star Ronaldo Tears Through Espanyol

La Liga
Result: Espanyol 0-6 Real Madrid
Date: 12 September 2015
Venue: Stadio Cornella El-Prat
Cristiano Ronaldo was in sublime form for Real Madrid on Saturday, netting five goals as they annihilated Espanyol 6-0.
Ronaldo was out of the gates in a flash as he started the goal-scoring festivities in the seventh minute. Luka Modric created the opportunity with a perfectly weighted lofted ball over the defence. Ronaldo ran onto it and slotted it with a composed finish.
Los Blancos continued to dominate proceedings after going ahead and won a penalty in the 16th minute. Alvaro blatantly brought Gareth Bale down in the area and Ronaldo stepped up to convert the penalty into the bottom corner.
Only four minutes later the Portuguese superstar completed his hat-trick as he pounced on Bale's cross from the left flank, beating Alvaro and Ciani to the ball to stab home from close range.
The floodgates were well and truly open as Karim Benzema joined the party with a fourth goal for the visitors in the 28th minute. Bale was in the thick of it again as he fed Ronaldo who in turn crossed for Benzema to finish an easy chance.
Ronaldo increased his tally to four in the 61st minute. Real countered an Espanyol corner with Isco racing away before passing to Ronaldo who spread it to Bale. The Welshman provided the cross for Ronaldo to tap in the finish.
The former Manchester United winger was not quite done as he added his fifth of the game with a tap-in in the 81st minute after Lucas Vazquez set it up for him perfectly after beating a couple of defenders in the area.
