Result: Deportivo 1-1 Atletico
Date: 30 October 2015
Venue: Estadio Municipal de Riazor
Deportivo La Coruna and Atletico Madrid played out a 1-1 draw in their La Liga clash on Friday night.
Both sides made an underwhelming start to the clash as both goalkeepers remained untested for the opening half hour. Atletico enjoyed the majority of the possession stakes but failed to penetrate the opposition defence.
However, the opener arrived in the 34th minute. Sidnei attempted to clear the ball in his own area but instead gave it away to Tiago who smashed it home with a super half-volley.
Atletico could have been two goals clear only four minutes later when Koke's corner kick to the far post found Godin who rose high and powered a header at goal only to see it bounce off the post.
Deportivo finally had a positive moment in attack in the 56th minute when Laure and Cartabie combined down the right wing before the latter cut inside and forced Oblak into a save.
The equaliser arrived in the 77th minute. Gimenez made a mistake as he tried to usher the ball out near his byline. He was robbed of the ball by Lucas who burst into the area and produced a composed finish.
The hosts almost sneaked in the winner with two minutes left to play when Fajr found room to strike from 30 yards out. However, the ball smashed into the woodwork instead.
