Suarez Nets Four As Barca Turn On The Talent
Result: Deportivo 0-8 Barcelona
Date: 20 April 2016
Venue: Estadio Municipal de Riazor
Barcelona annihilated Deportivo on Wednesday night, knocking no less than eight goals past them for an 8-0 beating in La Liga.
The Catalans wasted little time as they surged ahead in only the 11th minute. Just after Lionel Messi's attempt was well saved, Luis Suarez scored from Rakitic's corner kick.
In the 24th minute the visitors were fizzing the ball around with great skill to set up their second goal. Andres Iniesta sent the ball on for Messi who flicked it on towards Suarez for the finish.
The game was still within reach for the hosts' at half-time, but after the interval the visitors tore through them with Rakitic netting the third goal after a cross from Suarez.
The former Liverpool striker then completed his hat-trick with a cool finish after Messi put him through with a deft pass.
Suarez was running riot just past the hour mark as he netted his fourth goal of the game. Neymar unselfishly squared for the Uruguayan striker to net on his second attempt, after the first was blocked.
It was too easy for the Blaugrana yet again in the 73rd minute as Messi opened his account. Suarez produced the assist as he squared for the Argentine who tapped it in from close range.
Deportivo's humiliation continued as Barca found their seventh goal. Marc Aregall simply strode through the defence and finished with the greatest of ease.
The devastating defeat was capped off in the 81st minute as Neymar joined the party. A low cross came in for the Brazilian who was at the back post, ready to poke home for an 8-0 result.
Barca are top of the standings, even on points with Atletico, but with a better head-to-head record.
