Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema appeared in court on Tuesday, following traffic violation charges.
The Frenchman and his lawyer appeared before a judge in Alcobendas to answer to speeding charges on Tuesday, after being caught by a roadside camera.
Reports by news website Voz Popúli, suggested that the speeding charge was a serious one, and the 27-year-old has also previously committed similar offences.
In 2013 the former Olympique Lyon forward was caught travelling at 216km/h in a 100km/h zone, which resulted in his driving license being suspended for eight months, while in 2009, he was involved in two separate car accidents.
Apart from this off-field issue, Benzema has been in reasonably good touch this season and will play a pivotal role for Los Blancos if they’re to hold onto top spot in La Liga this season.
The Frenchman has scored 13 league goals in 23 appearances, assisting nine times along the way for his teammates. Overall, he has netted 19 goals in 37 games, with 13 assists in all competitions.
