'James Doesn't Have Character'
'James Rodriguez Doesn't Have Character'
A former Real Madrid superstar has hit out at James Rodriguez, who joined Bayern Munich on Tuesday, insisting the Colombian was too soft to make it at Los Blancos.
The Bavarians announced the signing of Rodriguez on a two-year loan deal on Tuesday afternoon, after a season in which he struggled to break into Zinedine Zidane’s strongest team.
Hugo Sanchez, who represented Real from 1985 to 1992, has questioned the player’s mental strength, suggesting he might not have had the character to make a real impact in Spain.
"James needed to prove to Zidane that he can trust him in every game, not just the one but also the next one," Sanchez told Radio MARCA.
"One's character has to harden and that's what James was missing.
"To play for Real Madrid, you have to put a little more in."
Rodriguez represented Real on 111 occasions, scoring 36 goals and assisting a further 41 strikes.
