In-Form James, Ramos & Marcelo To Miss Madrid Derby

Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Sevilla last night came at a massive price for Los Blancos after James Rodriguez and Sergio Ramos both suffered injuries.

Ramos left the pitch with a hamstring problem after just eight minutes, while Rodriguez suffered a serious injury in the 26th minute.

The Columbian, who had opened the scoring for Real, reportedly broke the fifth metatarsal in his right foot and will likely miss around two months.

Rodriguez’s injury will be particularly disappointing as the 23-year-old has been in great form, scoring 12 goals and making 10 assists since his arrival at the club.

Ramos is expected to miss around three weeks, which means both players will miss Saturday’s derby against Atletico Madrid.

Marcelo is the third player set to miss the clash with Real’s cross-town rivals after picking his fifth yellow card.

“Sergio had a hamstring problem, we need to wait a few days to evaluate it. James had a problem in his right foot, I don't know exactly what, but it is sure that they won't be available," Carlo Ancelotti explained after the game.

Ancelotti also confirmed that his side will appeal his left-back’s booking, saying: “We will appeal Marcelo's yellow card because for me it wasn't even a foul.”

The victory has opened the gap on second placed Barcelona to four points, and Real could go 10 points clear of Atletico if they beat them on Saturday.

Despite the setbacks, there will be a boost for Real ahead of the derby with Cristiano Ronaldo available for selection following the end of his two-match ban.
