The club's top scorer is still recovering from the injury he picked up in the European Championship final, but is reportedly close to returning to the team.
The Portuguese is joined on the sidelines by goalkeeper Keylor Navas, and defenders Pepe and Fabio Coentrao, while Luka Modric is suspended.
Karim Benzema is also carrying a minor injury and is a doubt for the game, while the likes of Toni Kroos and Gareth Bale, who both missed the European Super Cup, are set to return to the line-up.
Marco Asensio, who had a brilliant pre-season, seems likely to replace Ronaldo, while Kovacic, Isco and James Rodriguez will battle it out for Modric's place.
