The Blaugrana pride themselves on the superstars they have produced over the years, with the likes of Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Gerard Pique and Cesc Fabregas all being products of their famous youth academy.
However, in recent years, Barca's youth structures have been criticised as fewer and fewer academy stars seem to be breaking into the club's first team.
In the latest transfer window, five graduates of the academy left the Spanish giants, although two of those moves were loan deals – Munir El Haddadi to Valencia and Sergi Samper to Granada.
Spanish defender Martin Montoya joined Valencia in a permanent move after failing to break into the team's senior set-up. The 25-year-old left on a free transfer following two different loan spells over the past couple of seasons.
Marc Bartra also departed the Camp Nou after spending a great deal of his Barca career as a fringe player, while striker Sandro Ramirez joined Malaga on a permanent basis after not doing enough to impress Luis Enrique during his time with the senior squad.
