Barca Stars Slam Officials For Disallowed Messi Goal

FC Barcelona stars Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets voiced their anger after match officials disallowed a "clear" Lionel Messi goal in their 1-1 draw with Valencia on Sunday.

Barca Net Late To Maintain Unbeaten Run

The Blaugrana, who dominated most of the first half, should have taken the lead after goalkeeper Neto mishandled a shot from the Argentine maestro.

The ball slipped through the shot-stopper's legs and apparently cross the goal line but the match officials failed to spot this, much to the disgust of Alba.

"Everyone saw the cancelled goal," the left back told beIN SPORTS.

"We watched it on video, and this happened before against Betis too. The cancelled goal was clear. Video technology is needed.

"The same thing (cancelled goal) happened to us last season. We lost the league because of those points.

"I was in the middle of the field, and even I could see the ball had crossed the line."

Spain midfielder Sergio Busquets also blasted the officials' decision not to award the goal.

"We don't feel very good. It was a clear goal, but the referee and the assistant did not see it. We tied, but we deserved more."

Messi: Why I Signed New Deal At Barca

The draw saw the Catalan club stay at the top of the La Liga standings, four points ahead of Valencia, who are second, and eight points ahead of Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, who are in joint third.

Why do you think La Liga does is yet to have goal-line technology like some of the other elite European leagues? Have your say in the comments section below.
