Despite Karim Benzema being a settled starter under Zinedine Zidane, the Frenchman could leave the Santiago Bernabeu in the future, and with Alvaro Morata reportedly looking for a way out, Real will need at least one new forward.
According to Don Balon, six names are on club president Florentino Perez's wish list for the club's front line.
Of the names mentioned, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Robert Lewandowski are the two players who would feature as Real's main striker.
However, the other four players in teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe, Eden Hazard – who could apparently be involved in a swap deal with Morata – Antoine Griezmann and Paulo Dybala prefer to come from the wing as inside forwards.
If Real do indeed sign any of the latter four, Cristiano Ronaldo could perhaps continue his transformation from a winger to an out-and-out striker.
His goal returns are already higher than the numbers of most of Europe's top strikers and given his progressing age, Ronaldo might find it more difficult to shine on the wing.
It remains to be seen which players Real will actually chase after in the next transfer window, but it promises to be an interesting one.
