The 2017/18 La Liga fixtures have officially been released, with Lionel Messi set to face Cristiano Ronaldo in El Clasico on 20 December at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid will compete in the Club World Cup in Abu Dhabi from early December, with the final of that competition set to take place on 16 December.

If Los Blancos reach the final, it is possible that the first league El Clasico of the campaign will be moved to Thursday, 21 December.

The return fixture, which will be played at the Camp Nou, is scheduled for 6 May, making it a potential title decider.

2016/17 league champions Real Madrid begin their title defence away at Deportivo La Coruna, while FC Barcelona will be at home against Real Betis.

Real's next four fixtures will be against Valencia, Levante, Real Sociedad and Real Betis, while the Catalan giants have drawn Alaves, Espanyol, Getafe and Eibar after their opener against Betis.

As for the Madrid derby, Atletico will be at home first on the weekend of 19 November, while Los Blancos will host the return fixture on 8 April.

The new league campaign will begin on the weekend of 19/20th August, and will finish on the weekend of 20/21st May.
