Following his recent surprise announcement, former Manchester City and FC Barcelona superstar Yaya Toure has been slammed for having "no dignity".
The 37-year-old is being used as a promise signing by Vasco da Gama presidential candidate Leven Siano in Brazil, as both parties revealed in a recent Instagram post.
This news came as a shock to many, especially as Toure initially appeared to be close to joining Botafogo, but the move reportedly collapsed when his wife said she was not interested in living in Rio de Janeiro.
Reports in Brazil then suggested that Toure attempted to make a U-turn on the decision, but it was all a little too late as the club had already moved on from wanting to sign him.

Botafogo vice-president Ricardo Rotenberg has since torn into the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations winner, insisting he never deserved to wear the club's jersey.
"He (Toure) is a guy whose word means nothing. He had an attitude from those who have no character," he told Globo Esporte.
"He could just have said he didn't want to play here. Now I don't want to see him... I don't think our path was wrong, but Yaya lacked seriousness.

"He could go to any team, but he had no dignity to give us an answer. Yaya does not deserve to wear the Botafogo shirt."
