Yaya Toure has all but written off Manchester United’s chances of defending their Premier League title this season.
Toure’s Manchester City team are just two points ahead of United on the log, but he believes that the Red Devils will not be part of the championship equation at the end of the season.
While it is surely foolhardy to ignore United after just nine games of the campaign, Toure thinks they are “struggling” under new manager David Moyes.
Many pundits consider Chelsea, City and table toppers Arsenal to be this season’s hottest contenders.
But Yaya believes his brother Kolo’s team,Liverpool, are also a force to be reckoned with, thanks to their venomous strike duo of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.
"United will find it hard to defend the title since they have a new manager and are really struggling,” Yaya told the British press, according to Soccernet.
"Liverpool are a big threat at the moment because they have a strong squad and their strikers -- Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge -- are scoring goals at will."
Meanwhile, Yaya has given his backing to out of form City ‘keeper, Joe Hart.
Criticised after his costly mistake in City’s recent defeat to Chelsea, Hart is suddenly under pressure to keep his place in the starting line-up.
But Toure does not doubt the England shot stopper’s quality.
