FC Barcelona and Spain midfielder, Xavi Hernandez, has insisted Cesc Fabregas’ departure to Chelsea is a ‘big loss’ for the Catalan giants.
However, he also wished his Spain teammate good luck and revealed Fabregas seems more relaxed after his future has been confirmed.
"It's a big loss for Barcelona. It's his future and he's decided on it. I wish him all the luck in the world because I consider him a friend," Xavi told Marca.
"It's great news for Cesc. He's content and looks happy. It's a great chance for him to play in a big club.
“That was what he wanted and he seems happy. Now he will be able to relax knowing what his future for the next few years is to be.”
Xavi then highlighted that Spain shouldn’t change their successful tiki-taka style and revealed the new players were quick to adapt to it.
"We're excited about it. We're in a tough group and against the Netherlands it's going to be a complicated game. We'll try to impose our personality and do our best,” he added.
"We want to be the leaders and have control of the ball. Changing our style would be a mistake.
“The players that we have here adapt perfectly to our philosophy. We will die playing this style. I hope we can enjoy the same success."
Spain will play the Netherlands in their World Cup opener at 21:00 tonight.
