World's Highest Paid Player Labelled A Flop

The chairman of Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua has admitted that Carlos Tevez, who is reportedly the highest paid player in the world, has turned out to be a flop for them.

The former Manchester City striker, who is reportedly earning about £615 000 (R11 million) a week in Asia, has been heavily criticised for his performances and fitness, with the club languishing close to the relegation zone.

Shanghai owner Wu Xiaohui has conceded that the season has been a complete disaster, and that Tevez has not met the club's expectations.

"We intended to bring in an influential star player with high quality, and we all thought that Tevez could fit the bill," Wu told Shanghai TV.

"However, due to a lack of winter training and match fitness, he hasn't met our expectations."

African Star Ends Any Barca Hope Of January Transfer

The 33-year-old has made 15 appearances for the Chinese Super League club so far, scoring three goals and assisting a further four strikes.

Do you think Tevez moved to China for money alone? Have your say in the comments section below.

I was shocked to hear that Tevez was the highest paid player in the first place. He is just enjoying the money and he's a cow. They don't even want him anymore in the national team. His time has passed.
