The president of the Jordan Football Association, Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein, has shared a letter that he wrote to the Asian Football Confederation in September, which calls for an official investigation into the sex of Zohreh Koudaei, the goalkeeper of the Iran women's team.
His letter is said to follow Iran's victory over Jordan two months ago, in a qualifying match for the 2022 Women's Asian Cup, which is scheduled to be held in India this coming January.
Iran booked their place at the competition after Koudaei made two excellent saves in a 4-2 penalty shootout win over Jordan.
"We duly acknowledge article 47 of the AFC Women's Asia Cup India 2022 Competition Regulations, and understand that gender verification is not mandatory for participating players," the letter reads, according to GiveMeSport.
"However, the article reserves the right for AFC to initiate a transparent and clear investigation by a panel of independent medical experts to investigate the eligibility of the player in question and others on the team."
GiveMeSport reports that Iranian officials have rejected calls from the Jordan Football Association to look further into the matter.
