The eye-catching additions of Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder to Galatasaray’s squad have given an already powerful line-up an additional smattering of star power.
Turkish giants Gala are enjoying a successful season.
They won the Turkish Super Cup, are top of the Turkish league ahead of their great rivals Besiktas, and have qualified for the last-16 of the Uefa Champions League.
Familiar names in the Gala squad are a dime a dozen from back to front.
Uruguayan international goalkeeper Fernando Muslera is between the sticks.
Former Arsenal and Atletico Madrid players Emmanuel Eboue and Tomasz Ujfalusi are at the back.
Ex-Bayern Munich and Real Madrid midfielder, Hamit Altintop, plays alongside Felipe Melo on loan from Juventus, and Albert Riera who moved to Turkey from Liverpool.
And up front, ex-Reds star Milan Baros and former Bolton ace Johan Elmander lead the line.
Throw Drogba and Sneijder into the mix alongside Gala's collection of past and present Turkish internationals, and they are suddenly looking like hot prospects.
And the Turkish club will especially fancy their chances of making an unexpectedly long run in this season’s Champions League.
They face Bundesliga side Schalke in the last-16 in February in a tie that now seems too close to call.
With such firepower in their ranks, Galatasaray may just be a worthwhile bet to cause a shock in Europe this season.
