Brazil-born Spaniard, Diego Costa, has received his third call-up to the Spanish national team.
The Chelsea forward had a great start into his Premier League campaign with four goals in three games and is expected to shine for Spain.
However, Costa has been struggling to convince when wearing the La Roja shirt and was partly blamed for Spain’s poor World Cup.
In general, it seems as his national team career has been jinxed since he snubbed his country of birth, Brazil, to play for the 2010 World Cup champions.
His first international call-up came in November last year, but he picked up a muscular injury and missed the trip to Equatorial Guinea and South Africa.
He finally made his Spain debut in March against Italy, but he didn’t have a great game.
His place in Vicente del Bosque’s World Cup squad was under threat following a series of muscular injuries, but he made it to Brazil and started in Spain’s first two games.
He was far from his best in Brazil, but it seems the 25-year-old still has a major role to play in del Bosque’s revamped Spain squad.
Spain will take on France at 21:00 on Thursday before taking on Macedonia in the first European Championsip qualifier on Monday.
