Suarez wasted an opportunity to double Liverpool's lead just six minutes later, after the Uruguayan was left one on one with Ben Foster, but failed to beat the onrushing keeper.
Brunt was next to test Mignolet in the 65th minute with a free kick from the edge of the area, but the Belgian got down well to deny the midfielder.
Two minutes later and substitute Victor Anichebe equalised for the home side after the Nigerian pounced on Kolo Toure's back pass before smashing his effort into the bottom corner.
Joe Allen tried his luck from range in the 77th minute but the substitute fired his effort straight at Foster.
