Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes the club is ready to win the Premier League, having proved it is a heavy-hitter by signing Mesut Ozil.
Wenger has faced doubts over his leadership at Arsenal’s AGMs for the past two seasons.
But this week he was in fine fettle at the latest meeting of Arsenal’s stakeholders.
The Frenchman is bullish thanks to Arsenal’s impressive form, and says that this season the club is certain to be challenging for honours.
"We have huge ambition to win the league this season," he said.
"We are top [of the table], in a very strong position, but the end of November will give a much clearer indication of where everyone lies.
"From the end of March until now, we have lost just one match and it created a huge emotion. It was the first game of the season and we hadn’t bought anyone, so I understood it. We have shown great mental strength since then.
"The Premier League is tight again this season and we need your support. We’ve had moments at the Emirates where we’ve not had that, but it’s our job to also inspire you and I am confident that at the end of May, we will all be very happy."
Regarding Ozil, who plays each game with the additional pressure of being Arsenal’s record signing, Wenger says the London club has proved it has all bases covered.
"The future of Arsenal will rely on quality of work we do inside, to scout and develop. We will also look to buy proven quality. We did not need to scout to buy Ozil, it was just money. I am pleased we have shown you we are not afraid to spend," he said.
Meanwhile, in exciting news for Arsenal fans, Ozil could be set to partner another Emirates darling- Santi Cazorla- against Norwich at the weekend.
Along with Bacary Sagna, Ozil and Cazorla appear to have shrugged off injuries and are in line to play.
"He is alright. He came back [from international duty] with a knock on the knee, but it was just a kick,” Wenger said of Ozil..
"Cazorla is available in training, but he is not match-fit. It is just about competitiveness with him. There is a possibility both [Cazorla and Sagna] are in the squad for Saturday. I have not decided whether they will start or not," he added.
