Wenger Happy With Ozil

Despite a convincing 3-1 scoreline win for Arsenal over Sunderland in a Barclays Premiership match on Saturday, manager Arsene Wenger admitted his side went to sleep for a short period in the second half.

The Gunners took a 1-0 lead into half time thanks to an Olivier Giroud goal. The second half, however, saw Sunderland equalise early on before a brace from Aaron Ramsey handed the London club all three points.

Speaking after the match Wenger said his side were perhaps a little bit lucky after losing concentration for a period of time, but he was happy his team pulled it together.

“There were plenty of chances on both sides. We had a great first half and maybe it should be game over at half-time, but Sunderland came back with a great determination,” said Wenger.

“We dropped a bit physically, but at 1-1 we found the resources again."

“We were a little bit [lucky], yes.”

Wenger also made mention of his new signing Mesut Ozil and commended him on a successful debut.

“It was especially good because he [Ozil] was sick yesterday. His first half was outstanding, in the second half he dropped a bit physically, but overall it was good,” added Wenger.
