Ludovic Giuly has confirmed that Barcelona goalkeeper, Victor Valdes, is likely to join Monaco when he leaves the Camp Nou at the end of the season.
Giuly played for Monaco before joining up with Valdes at Barca and he says that the ‘keeper has been in touch with him to discuss life and football in the French principality.
31-year-old Valdes will not be renewing his contract with the Spanish champions when it expires at the end of the season.
He has gone on record to say that he wants to experience a new football culture before he hangs his boots up, but cynics suggest that he really wants a bigger pay cheque, especially if he opts to sign for Monaco.
Giuly has now confirmed that talks between Valdes and Monaco have taken place and he says that the club would welcome the Spanish international with open arms.
"He's been at Barca since he was young. He wants to discover something more calm, with less pressure. He needs to find out about something new and I know Monaco have contacted him discreetly many times already," Giuly told beIN Sport.
"He's also talked to me about it. We've discussed it, and he's happy they have been in touch. I don't know which decision he'll take, but there has been contact. We'd be happy to see him at Monaco."
