Inter could have had an early lead just after five minute, as Nicolas Lopez found himself free just outside the box but his left-footed effort went well wide.
Udinese created their first chance of the game with 10 minutes gone, Gabriel Silva curled in a cross for Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, who could only header straight at Juan Pablo Carrizo.
The home side went ahead in the 32nd minute, after Lopez did well on the byline before drilling a low cross, which was turned in by Maicosuel, who was unmarked at the back post.
Inter almost replied immediately, as Zdravko Kuzmanovic's long range curling effort struck the upright, while Gaby Mudingayi failed to score from the rebound.
Lopez tried his luck with a free kick from 30 yards out, but the Uruguayan fired his effort straight at Carrizo, who collected with ease.
Udinese nearly doubled their lead in the 55th minute, as Maicosuel did well to evade the Carrizo, and then cut the ball back to Giampiero Pinzi, who volleyed over from the edge of the box.
The home side had another chance to double their advantage in the 71st minute, this time Badu shooting just wide from outside the area.
Substitute Rick Alvarez tried his luck from range in the 76th minute, but the midfielder's effort went well wide of the target.
Yuto Nagatomo decided to have a shot from distance in the 89th minute, but the Japan international failed to get his effort on target.
