Four games took place in the 2013 U20 FIFA World Cup in Turkey on Sunday in Group E and Group F. Soccer Laduma gives you a breakdown of the action.
Group E
Goals from Nicolas Castillo and Christian Bravo saw Chile beat Egypt 2-1 in their opening Group E 2013 U20 FIFA World Cup in Turkey on Sunday.
Despite taking the lead in the tenth minute through Mahmoud Kahraba and seeing their opponents reduced to ten men after Cristian Cuevas was sent off with ten minutes to go, Egypt could not salvage a point in front of a packed Akdeniz University Stadium in Antalya.
The other Group E match on Sunday, also at the Akdeniz University Stadium, saw Iraq fight from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw against England.
England certainly got the better of the opening exchanges and went two goals up thanks to strikes from Conor Coady in the 41st minute and Luke Williams in the 52nd minute.
Iraq, though, were not going to go down without a fight and pulled a goal back from the penalty spot courtesy of Ali Faez.
Iraq managed to salvage a point thanks to a 93rd minute goal from Ali Adnan.
Group F
Uzbekistan kicked off their World Cup campaign in fine fashion with an impressive 3-0 drubbing of New Zealand in their opening Group F match.
A first half goal from Abbosbek Makhstaliev and two second half goals courtesy of Igor Sergeev and Diyorjon Turapov saw Uzbekistan to an easy victory at the Atatürk Stadium in Bursa and to the top of their group
The other Group F match saw Croatia stutter to a slender 1-0 win over Uruguay also at the Atatürk Stadium.
It was not the best performance from Croatia as a 41st minute goal from Ante Rebic gave them the win despite missing a penalty kick.
The result sees Croatia in second place in Group F while Uruguay sit in third and New Zealand prop up the group.
