Transfer Window Round Up

It was a busy deadline day with Manchester United pulling off another stellar signing after Radamel Falcao joined the club on an initial loan deal.

Danny Welbeck, meanwhile, left the club in the eleventh hour and joined Arsenal for £16 million, and Alvaro Negredo joined Valencia on loan from Manchester City.

Overall, English clubs alone spent a record-breaking £842.750 million, of which Manchester United alone spent more than £150 million.

Barcelona were the second biggest spenders in Europe with over £120 million, while Liverpool came in third after an impressive £117 million.

Luis Suarez (£75 million) and James Rodriguez (£63 million) were the biggest transfers, just ahead of Angel Di Maria (£59.7 million) and David Luiz (£50 million), who became the world's most expensive defender.

Financial Fair Play seem to have had its impact as clubs like Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain spent much less than in previous years and a couple of deals were going through as initial loan-deals rather than for exorbitant fees.

Here an overview of most of the transfers on deadline day:
