The 2014 FIFA World Cup winner, who was left out of Arsenal's Premier League and UEFA Europa League squads this season despite earning a whopping £350 000 (R7.1 million) a week, will reportedly make his move to Fenerbahce official in the coming days.
According to The Sun, he will take a massive pay cut that will see him earn £67 000 (R1.4 million) a week in Turkey – a decrease of £283 000 (R5.8 million) on his weekly wages in London.
It has been claimed that he will sign a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Super Lig team, said to be worth £3.5 million (R71 million) a year. It is believed the contract also includes two massive bonuses for this campaign if Fenerbahce win the league title or qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
It is understood that Ozil will receive another £445 000 (R9.1 million) if he helps Fenerbahce lift their first Super Lig title since 2014, while qualification for the Champions League would see him pocket another £222 000 (R4.5 million).
At Arsenal, meanwhile, Gabon star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will take the title of the (sole) "highest-paid player" at the club after recently putting pen to paper on a deal worth a reported £350 000 a week.
