Tevez Denies Insulting Llorente

Carlos Tevez has denied criticising his Juventus team-mate, Fernando Llorente.

Spanish striker Llorente increasingly seems like a third wheel in Turin, where he has not started a game since his contentious move from Athletic Bilbao as a free agent.

Even after manager Antonio Conte rested striker Mirko Vucinic against Copenhagen in the Champions League this week, Llorente was still overlooked in favour of Fabio Quagliarella.

After that match, El Pais reported that "Juve are ignoring Llorente," suggesting that he is well down the pecking order at the Italian champions, behind all of Tevez, Vucinic, Quagliarella and Sebastian Giovinco.

All of those strikers are small and mobile, while Llorente is a hulking target man, leading to speculation that he could be mired in a similar situation to the one that former Juve striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, endured at Barcelona.

And Tevez is alleged to have sarcastically hinted as much, by saying: "Llorente would be better off playing basketball."

However, the Argentine striker vehemently denies insulting Llorente, who is going through a traumatic time, as his dream move to Turin turns sour on the bench.

"I just wanted to tell you that I never said anything bad about Fernando, particularly because I believe he’s a great player and he’s going to be fundamental," Tevez insisted.

Ironically, Llorente has now been linked to a January move to Barca, where new manager Tata Martino is apparently more open to tactical ‘plan B’s’, unlike his predecessors in the Camp Nou hot seat.
