John Terry says Chelsea are determined to win the Europa League this season.
The Blues were humbled earlier in the campaign, when they became the first defending champions to crash out of the Champions League after the group stage.
They suffered the embarrassing demotion to Europe’s second-tier competition, which along with the FA Cup remains their last shot at silverware in this transitional season.
Skipper Terry is adamant that Chelsea- who play Czech side Sparta Prague on Thursday- will give the Europa League their best shot.
The 32-year-old defender is battling hard to recover from a knee injury, so that he can add his impetus to Chelsea’s bid to reach the Europa League final at the Amsterdam Arena.
"We're now in the Europa League and there is one message - we have to go and win it. It's as simple as that,” Terry said.
"We have to make sure that we're switched on in European weeks because games will be coming on Thursdays and Sundays, which is a different situation for us.
"We must make sure that after those European matches we come back and win our league fixtures because, a lot of the time, we are going to be a game behind the teams around us by the time we play."
