Swansea Crush Valencia In Spain

Swansea City's fairy tale continued tonight in their Europa League match against Valencia, winning 3-0 against the Spanish side, who were reduced to ten men in the tenth minute.

Swansea City started the game at Estadio Mestella, with six Spanish players in their line-up, while Valencia started with only four. In fact Nathan Dyer was the only British player to start for Swansea.

The Premier League side started positively, and Wilfried Bony had a chance saved by Vicente Guardia in the seventh minute.

Three minutes later Bony was brought down by last man Adil Rami, as he tried to break away from defence. The ref had no hesitation in showing Rami the red card, and Valencia were down to ten men with eighty minutes still to play.

Swansea took the lead in the 14th minute through Bony, as he was set up by Michu, who did well to break down the left before laying the ball back to Bony, who blasted in his fourth Europa goal of the season.

With the player advantage, Swansea began to take control of the possession, and Dwyer had a long range attempt at goal in the 20th minute but it flew wide to the right.

Michu had a chance in the 30th minute, but his shot from outside the box went high and wide.

Bony had another in the 40th minute, but his shot from the edge of the area flew wide, while Michu's header in the 45th minute flew wide, and at half-time Swansea deservedly led 1-0.

Swansea had the first shot at goal in the second-half, but Iex Pozuelo's shot went straight to Guardia in the 48th minute.

In the 51st minute Dwyer made a good run, and crossed to Bony but his header was off target.

Michu should have made it two a few minutes later but his volley from in front of the goal flew over.

But Michu did get the second in the 58th minute as he ran onto a great through ball from Pozuelo, and fired it past Guardia to make it 2-0.

In the 62nd minute Jonathan De Guzman made it 3-0, scoring with a wonderful free kick into the top right corner.

Valencia tried to pull one back in the 68th minute but Vorm tipped over Andrs Gaurdodo's attempt.

Substitute Jonjo Shelvey tried a long range lob in the 87th minute but it went safely into Gaurdia's hands.

It ended 3-0 to the visitors as the Swans pulled off a memorable and historic away win.
