Swansea City have confirmed the appointment of Gary Monk as the club’s new first-team manager.
The former player had taken over in an interim role from Michael Laudrup on February 4 and has now been appointed on a three-year contract.
The club says Monk deserve the appointment after achieving the club’s goal of ‘securing Barclays Premier League status after a difficult campaign’.
“We are delighted to confirm Garry (Monk) as our new first-team manager,” said Swans chairman, Huw Jenkins, as quoted on the club's website.
“We have been impressed with his work-rate and commitment since taking over the reins in February and how he adapted in very difficult circumstances to secure the points we needed to remain in the top-flight.
“Garry represents all the strong values we hold so dearly as a football club and everyone is looking forward to working with him.”
