Tottenham Hotspur cruised past Coventry City with a confident 3-0 win in their FA Cup Third Round clash at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
Clint Dempsey struck on either side of a goal from Gareth Bale as Spurs put the game to bed by the 37th minute.
Coventry sit 52 places below Spurs on the league ladder and the gap was clear as the hosts dominated the game and could have enjoyed an even more emphatic win if Dempsey, Emmanuel Adebayor and Steven Caulker had taken their chances.
Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Scott Parker both returned for Spurs after recovering from long-term injuries and the latter made an immediate impact with some crunching tackles.
The deadlock was broken 13 minutes in when Bale flicked on a cross from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Dempsey got ahead of his marker to stab home.
Bale looked dangerous and ripped through Coventry on the left flank, beating five players before firing an angled drive just wide.
The Welshman would grab the second goal in the 32nd minute though when Dempsey's shot was deflected to the far post where Bale was on hand to turn it in from close range.
Five minutes later the game was all but over when Bale powered a long cross to the far post where Dempsey was waiting to nod home.
The visitors did have a great chance to pull one back but Kyle Naughton took the ball off the feet of Franck Moussa from 10 yards out.
Spurs created numerous chances throughout the rest of the game but couldn't add to the tally in an emphatic win.
