Atletico Madrid clinched the Spanish Super Cup after Mario Mandzukic's early strike secured a 1-0 win over Real Madrid at the Vicente Calderon.
Carlo Ancelotti started Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench and opted for James Rodriguez, while Diego Simone gave Antoine Griezmann his home debut.
The home side went ahead as early as the second minute, as Mario Mandzukic dribbled through the Real defence before slotting into the bottom corner.
James Rodriguez came close to leveling matters for the visitors in the 26th minute, but his shot from close range forced Moya into a fine save.
Gareth Bale then came close for Real in the 39th minute, Rodriguez teed up the Welshman on the edge of the area, but he managed to drag his effort wide of the target.
Five minutes after the halftime break and Atletico nearly increased their lead, as Raul Garcia's thumping header cannoned off the crossbar, after getting on the end of Koke's free-kick.
Koke then came close in the 72nd minute, as the midfielder's effort from range swerved just over the crossbar, after being teed by a neat pass from Tiago.
A minute later and the hosts went close to doubling their lead again, as Garcia played in Griezmann, however the Frenchman dragged his effort wide of the mark.
Real had to finish the match with 10 men, after Luka Modric was shown his second yellow card of the game.
Ancelotti's side pushed on for the equaliser in the latter stages but could not break the Atletico defence, as Simeone's men triumphed 2-1 on aggregate.
